Prof. Padraig Cunningham: Abstract

While social network analysis (SNA) has existed as a research area for a hundred years it has only become a subject of commercial interest in recent years. This presentation will describe a number of commercial challenges and opportunities in SNA drawing on experience from the Clique research cluster (cliquecluster.org) a collaboration between academia and industry focused on addressing commercial challenges in network data analysis. The presentation will focus particularly on applications concerning the detection of anomalous structure in networks of financial transactions and in collaboration networks.
