Dr Rick Adderley: Biographical Details

Dr Rick Adderley is a retired West Midlands Police Inspector having retired in 2003 after completing 32 years of service. His last role was the project manager and lead designer to the Force's Force Linked Intelligence System (FLINTS) which, in 2003, linked 13 disparate policing systems from three Police Forces to provide quick, up-to-date and accurate operational intelligence. Since that time every British Force uses the FLINTS system. Rick studied part time to achieve a 1st Class Honours Degree in Computer Science and a PhD in The Use Of Data Mining Techniques In Offender Profiling And Crime Trend Analysis.

Rick Formed his company, A E Solutions (BI) Ltd (www.a-esolutions.com) in 2003. The company specialises in providing automated workflow intelligence solutions to Policing and security using their data mining workbench tool, Authority Miner®. The tool connects to currently held data and has specific algorithms which are tuned to specific security requirement. One such algorithm can identify a Force's "top" criminal network which can dynamically be specified depending on current priorities. The company also uses the Authority Miner® tool in conjunction with a physiological monitoring device to determine stress in the workplace. This is accomplished by collecting and mining personal data over a series of working activities.

A E Solutions (BI) Ltd have completed two EU FP6 security projects and are currently in involved in a further two EU FP7 security projects.
