Understanding Spatio-Temporal Big Data in the IoT

Abstract

Time and Location gives us the core context of 'WHEN' and 'WHERE' things have happened. This together with other facts and Machine Learning techniques allows us to identify "WHY" things happened and possibly "WHEN", "WHERE" and "WHY" they may happen again in the future.

Hence it is important to capture the factual information in the context of location and time and this remains a critical aspect of IoT. Considering data attributes in the context of the location and time dimensions is the key to building effective big data models to support IoT. This talk will explore how to read, interpret and transform the IoT sensor based data to build location and time dimensions in the big data world.
