Dr. Christoph Tholen (DFKI Marine Perception Group)Dr. Christoph Tholen is a Researcher at the Marine Perception research group at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence. Previous to that he was a research associate at the Jade University of Applied Sciences in Wilhelmshaven Germany. He has a background in mechanical engineering and in marine science specialising in the application of optimisation methods in autonomous underwater vehicles. His research areas are autonomous underwater vehicles, AI based plastic waste detection, and optimisation techniques for real world applications. He is currently involved in national and international projects for plastic waste detection and quantification using remote sensing techniques.
